SAFE 7/30/18 TOAST is a young cat who was found outside. She is emaciated and has pyometra. TOAST was super friendly at intake but became a bit hissy after a lot of handling. She needs a furever home where she can get follow up vet care and lots of TLC.

History : Found outside, was dirty – finder bathed pt
Subjective: Alert, walks out of carrier readily and walks around exam table
Observed Behavior – Allows all handling and rubs on examiner and handler, lifts butt in the air when scratched, super friendly! Then abruptly after a full 5 minutes, pt swatted and started hissing.
Evidence of Cruelty seen – None
Evidence of Trauma seen – None

EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted
Oral Exam: Mild tartar
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Soft, moderately distended, non painful on palpation, no discrete masses palpated
U/G: Female, no SS noted, small nipples, no vulvar discharge
MSI: Patchy alopecia on ventrum and medial aspects of front legs – underlying skin is quiet. Ventral thorax fur is fluffy and short. Amb x4. No lesions noted. Ambulatory x 4, .
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: Normal externally
Assessment:
1. Emaciated
2. Distended abd – R/O pyometra
3. Mild tartar
Prognosis: Good with appropriate treatment
Plan:
1. CBC/chemistry
SURGERY:
Okay for surgery if pyo – otherwise, temporary waiver due to emaciation
