Hello, my name is Titi. My animal id is #10441. I am a desexed female gray tabby cat at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 7 years 2 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 22-Oct-2017, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- moving – no pets allowed.
Titi is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other cats. Titi also has displayed an Average behavior at the care center.

During intake Titi was calm. Titi allowed to be scanned and collared with no problem. Titi allowed all handling but became shy in the kennel and would try to hide.

Basic Information:: Titi is a spayed 7 year old gray tabby DSh with no known medical conditions. Owner has had Titi for 7 years and is surrendering because of a residential move.
How is this cat around strangers?: Around strangers Titi is shy for about an hour. After a while Titi will warm up and become friendly. Titi plays exuberantly with adults and if her nails are not trimmed she may scratch by accident but has never broke skin..
How is this cat around children?: Titi has lived with child the age of 3 and is tolerant of them. Titi allows children to pet her but does not play with them.
How is this cat around other cats?: Titi has not been socialized with other cats.
How is this cat around dogs?: Titi very briefly was socialized with a dog but hide while the dog was over.
Behavior Notes: in car rides Titi is quiet. Titi isnt bothered when being picked up and held or being placed in a carrier. Titi is afraid of getting bathes but will let you wash her. Titi also is afraid of getting her nails trimmed but is well behaved if you wrap her in a towel. Titi enjoys being brushed lightly but if you use to much pressure she will run away. Titi isnt bothered when being placed in a carrier.
Bite history:: Titi has no bite history. Titi has scratched while playing but has never broken skin.

For a New Family to Know: Titi was described as affectionate and loving. if you place your head on Titi she will lick you. Titi enjoys being scratched on her head and back. When home with Titi she will follow you around.. Titi enjoys going outside in the yard a coupe times a day. Titi likes to lay in the grass. Titi is liter box trained and also goes to the bathroom outside. Titi used an uncovered litter box with crystals litter. Titi did not have a scratching post at home and liked to scratch on the carpet and wood banister outside.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Nervous
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 10/23/17 At front of kennel, wrapped up in blanket. Head and body is completely hidden. She tolerates petting awhile poking her head out and sniffing the air. Ears are forward. Focused on environment, continues to sniff and look around as I pet her along the head and body. Needs time to adjust – sprayed feliway. 10/24/17 At front of kennel as I approach, face soft and tail raised. Allows petting along head and body while leaning in and head-butting my hand. Much more relaxed than yesterday, remains in front of kennel and allows all petting. Doing well!

Reaction to assessor:: Titi was tense and curled up on top her kuranda bed.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Titi’s ears rotate and she makes eye contact but doesn’t come forward when coaxed.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Titi remains motionless.
Reaction to touch:: Titi sniffs the assessor then leans in and nudges his hand. She accepts gentle petting on her head and body, rolls around then comes forward while soliciting attention.
Reaction to being picked up:: Titi is calm, relaxed and allows all handling.
