SAFE 8/25/17 TIP is an adorable already neutered kitten looking for a loving home.
Tip A1122784 – 4 month neutered black kitten:
Tip was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home.
Nervous, allows exam
Lying huddled in litter box pressed up next to sibling. Tolerates petting along head and body while lowering self-further and tilting ears. Eyes look around the room. Needs more time to adjust.
Cage Condition: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor: Tip was curled up tight in his bed at the back of the cubby.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Tip lip licks then lowers her head trying to avoid eye contact.
Reaction to cage door opening: Tip is tense and alert.
Reaction to touch: Tip squints then lowers his head when the assessor extends his hand forward. He closes his eyes when touched and tolerates petting along his back with a slow approach. His body feels tense/stiffs, he keeps his tail wrapped up and he takes a few minutes to warm up to touch.
Reaction to being picked up: Tip is tense when picked up and curls up in the assessor’s arms.
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back
CHARACTER TYPE: Timid
Kitten socialization – Tip is a young cat that may not have had many interactions with humans from an early age. He may be apprehensive of people, but the behavior team believes he has potential to warm up to people. Kittens less than 8 weeks of age can be socialized by almost anyone; however, kittens between 2-4 months may require more time and skill in order for them to be comfortable around people. Please speak to an adoption counselor to learn more about socialization techniques.
Experienced cat parent – Tip may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
