TIKO – A1072603
Safe - 5-23-2016 Manhattan
*** SAFE 05/23/16 *** LOYAL TO HIS OWNER FOR 15 YEARS! TIKO is and awesome AVERAGE rated 15 year old boy, who has just experienced the betrayal of the century! His previous “owner” dumped him off due to “personal problems”. Disgusting! His ex-“owner” stated that Tiko loved to follow him around the house, and prefered being in the same room as him. Loyal to the bone! Recently, this boy has been experiencing some litter box issues which is most likely the real reason poor Tiko has been abandoned. Any responsible pet owner would take their baby to the vet, but his previous “owner” stated Tiko has never even seen a vet! This poor baby looks so lost and confused. He leans into petting and is appreciative of attention from the staff at the ACC, probably trying to find comfort any way he can. This sweetie will need some veterinary attention, but don’t let that scare you away from saving his life! You can offer to FOSTER him through a New Hope rescue, and they will assist with his medical bills while you coddle this sweet senior and show him all the love he’s longing for. Of course he can be ADOPTED out right by someone who is willing to go the extra mile for him! Tiko is a sweet senior boy who deserves to live out his golden years being doted on. Do not let the ACC make him yet another statistic, step in and save his life RIGHT NOW! He is waiting for you!

05/05/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
5/5/16 17:05 Basic information: Tiko is a 15 year old male domestic short hair mix. The owner surrendered Tiko because of personal problems. Tiko has never been taken to a vet. Socialization: The owner states that Tiko has never been around strangers. Tiko has lived with 2 children, he is gentle and loves to play with them. Tiko has lived a Chihuahua; he is friendly with the dog and plays very well. Tiko has never bitten or scratched anyone. Behavior: Tiko has never been bathed, had his nails trimmed or his coat brushed. He does not mind being picked up and allows being placed in a cat carrier. For a new family to know: The owner describes Tiko as friendly and playful cat with a medium activity level. Tiko has played with ball and stuffed toys; he lives mostly indoors and sleeps in the closet. In the home Tiko will follow the owner around and prefers to stay in same room as the owner. Tiko eats various friskies brand wet cat food and is feed two times a day. He is litter box trained and uses an uncovered litter box with clumping litter (however recently he has peeing and popping out side of the litter box and the owner has not taken Tiko to a vet to find the cause). Tiko has never been given a scratching post so the owner does not know if he will use it or not. Behavior during intake: During intake Tiko was clam with soft body, he allowed us to scan (-) put on collar, photographed and placed in cat kennel.

05/07/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Tiko’s former owner stated he has lived with 2 children, he is gentle and loves to play with them. Tiko has lived a Chihuahua; he is friendly with the dog and plays very well. Reaction to assessor: Tiko looks neutral in the cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Tiko remains sitting upright on his cage bedding, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Tiko slowly engages then leans into the assessor’s hand and appreciates petting on the head and body. Reaction to Being Picked up: He becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage. Placement determination: Average Tiko interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents. Tiko’s previous owner reports that he was eliminating (urinating and defecating) outside the litterbox recently, but we are unaware of what, if any, modification steps were taken to try and address this behavior. We cannot be sure whether this behavior will continue in a different home environment, but we recommend that potential adopters be comfortable with management and modification techniques for elimination outside the litterbox should this behavior continue in a home environment. We also recommend that Tiko be provided with numerous litterboxes throughout the house as he adjusts to his new living space. The extra boxes can be removed as he learns the space and successfully defecates in his main litterbox(es).
