I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 06/17/2017 from NY 10029, owner surrender reason stated was ABANDON.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish, Independent ENRICHMENT NOTES: 6/18/17 Sitting up on approach, looking around, eyes dilated. Flattened ears, started lip licking, and slowly crouched down when spoken to. Hissed, growled, and struck cage floor. Sprayed feliway. 6/19/17 Crouched at back today, eyes dilated, ears completely flat. Started hissing and growling on approach, then charged and struck cage floor. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Tigger remains tense, lying down on his cage bedding during the approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Tigger body stiffens up with ears flat to the side, alert with eyes dilated. Reaction to touch: Tigger does not allow the touch, lunges the front and hisses at the assessor. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Tigger is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is stressed in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
