*** SAFE 09/28/17*** SECOND CHANCE TONIGHT FOR TERRIFIC TIGER WHO IS FRIENDLY AND PLAYFUL AND 17 LBS OF KITTY LOVE!! TIGER’s owner dumped his 10 year old cat for litterbox issues. Tiger is very overweight and may have trouble climbing in and out of his box. TIGER has a URI now and was not eating as much. He also has a small facial mass which should be checked by a vet. 09/12/17 10:33 Tiger is 10 year old altered male DSH mix; he came to his home as a kitten and is being surrendered due to house soiling. He has no known health issues and injures and has no vet history. Around strangers Tiger friendly and relaxed he has never been around children and has lived with a female 8 year old cat he was respectful of the cat but would sometimes play rough, but has no bite history. Tiger will scratch on the furniture and has litter box accidents. Tiger has been having accidents a few times a week. He poops and pees outside of the litter box and has been doing so for almost a year, and has never been to a vet. Tiger enjoys being brushed and held, but he will struggle to go into the carrier. He is described as a being friendly, playful and confident with medium activity level. Tiger loves to follow the family around the home and play with laser pointer, balls and cat dancers. Tiger is free feed dry food and has a hooded litter box with clumping liter and has a horizontal scratching post made of rough rope and carpet. Upon intake Tiger was a bit timid he was staring around the room with wide eyes, he allowed the counselor to give him soft pets and relaxed and was collared.

Reaction when softly spoken to: Tiger is relaxed and constantly rubbing up against the cage door. Reaction to cage door opening: Tiger is calm and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Tiger brushes past the assessor’s hand, gives head butts and allows petting all over. He falls over on his side, starts to purr and leans in for cheek rubs. Reaction to being picked up: Tiger was a bit tense when picked up due to his size but he remains calm and allows all handling. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Lively VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Easy going, Affectionate, Social POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: Inappropriate elimination – Tiger’s previous owners report that he/she was eliminating (urinating and defecating) outside the litter box for over a year. We are unaware of what, if any, modifications steps were taken to try and address this behavior in the home, so we cannot be sure what the trigger may have been or if this behavior may continue in a future home. RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced cat parent – Tiger interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all handling. Tiger’s previous owner reported that he had litter box issues so we recommend that he go to a home with experienced cat parents.
