A volunteer writes: To say this handsome snuggle puss is friendly, is the understatement of the century. This sweet baby could not get enough chin and ear scritchy scratches…scritchy scratch, scritchy scratch…under chin seemed to be his scritchy of choice…and…well…everywhere else, too! His lush gorgeous grey coat and light eyes make this big love the full Catabulous package! TIGER was surrendered when owner couldn’t afford vet care for some skin issues. TIGER now caught the kitty cold at the shelter and this super affectionate sweet boy needs rescue now! MUST RESERVE TIGER BY NOON!

Hello, my name is Tiger. My animal id is #12570. I am a desexed male gray cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 5 years 2 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 14-Nov-2017, with the surrender reason stated as animal health – cannot afford vet bill.
Tiger is at risk for medical reasons, having been diagnosed with Upper Respiratory Infection which is contagious to other cats. Behaviorally, Tiger has been assessed as being suitable even for beginner cat homes.

[DVM Intake] DVM Intake Exam Estimated age:5 reported Microchip noted on Intake? History : uncertain history length of skin disease: o was prescribed prednisone but uncertain of dose, if was given at all etc Subjective: lesions strongly resemble eosinphilic granuloma complex Observed Behavior -calm, allows full exam Evidence of Cruelty seen -n Evidence of Trauma seen -n Objective T = P =200 R =wnl BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, OD lid is somewhat swollen AS erosive lesion in ear, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: clean teeth PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: neutered male MSI: Ambulatory x 4, scabby lesion on right temple, scars and thickened skin on head CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: dermatitis, suggestive of EOGN complex Prognosis:good. this allergic skin condition is chronic but easily controlled. diagnosis confirmed with skin biopsy or response to treatment Plan: convenia 0.5ml given recc hypoallergenic food tresaderm au if no response, low dose steroids will be required, usually sporadically
Hx: Admitted on 11/14/17 with a hx of hair loss and skin disease – client was prescribed prednisone but the dose is unknown and whether pt actually received it is unknown. AS had erosive lesion in the ear, thickened skin and scars on head. S: Curled up at the back of the kennel, stares at me. O: QAR, estimated 5% dehydrated EENT: Skin just cranial to AS has a scabby but NOT erythematous lesion that is healing. No other skin lesions noted on today’s exam. Mild seromucoid nasal discharge. H/L: Eupnic, not ausculted M/S/I: No other skin lesions noted A: 1. Possible allergic skin disease, lesions are currently resolved 2. URI P: Move to isolation, start docycycline 1.1 ml PO SID x10 days. 1088
BARH scanned negative neutered about 5 years allows handling. ears and eyes are clear wound in the head. BCS 5/6 x4 ambulant

Upon intake, tiger allowed counselor to pick him up and place him on counter for intake photo. He sat nicely and allowed to collared. He walked into carrier on his own.

Basic Information:: Tiger is a neutered mid age cat. Owner is surrendering due to medical concerns with Tiger. Tiger has patches of hair loss on his head. Tiger was seen last month at vet for this issue.
Previously lived with:: one adult 2 children, female older cat.
How is this cat around strangers?: Tiger will stay around them and let them pet him. He stays to himself and will come up to them on his own.
How is this cat around children?: Tiger lived with a 7 and 8 year old child. he is relaxed, respectful, and plays gentle with them.
How is this cat around other cats?: He lived with a female cat and was relaxed, respectful, and tolerant with her.
How is this cat around dogs?: Tiger spent time with two small breed dogs. he was relaxed and respectful.
Behavior Notes: there is no behavior issues with Tiger.

For a New Family to Know: Owner described him as affectionate, playful, mellow, confident, and quiet. Owner has never trie bathing, trimming of nails, or brushing of coat. He isnt bothered being picked p or putting in a carrier. He likes to head butt people. He plays with balls. He sleeps on a cat tree. he eats friskies dry and wet food. He uses a uncovered litterbox with clumping litter. He uses a scratching post with smooth wood.
KNOWN HISTORY:: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: an adult, 2 children, and a senior cat Behavior toward strangers: Tiger will stay around them and let them pet him. He stays to himself and will come up to them on his own. Behavior toward children: Tiger lived with a 7 and 8 year old child. He is relaxed, respectful, and plays gentle with them. Behavior toward cats: He lived with a female cat and was relaxed, respectful, and tolerant with her. Behavior toward dogs: Tiger spent time with two small breed dogs. He was relaxed and respectful. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior -calm, allows full exam
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: Curled up asleep in litter box. Woke when spoken to, stood and came out to main compartment, soft eyes and body. Leaned and arched enthusiastically into pets, purred. Stayed at the front after door closed, rubbed against the bars, marched in place.
Cage Condition:: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor:: Tiger engages when approached by the assessor.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Tiger remains soft in place.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Tiger seeks affection, leans forward with tail up and remains at the front of the cage, soft and relaxed.
Reaction to touch:: Tiger head bunts the assessor’s hand and accepts the touch with eyes soft and loose body.
Reaction to being picked up:: Allows the pickup and remains calm.
