Hello, my name is Thunder. My animal id is #12044. I am a desexed male gray tabby cat at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 5 years old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 07-Nov-2017, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- landlord won’t allow.
Thunder is at risk for behavior concerns (Experience determination). He has been fearful in care center and constantly hides. While Thunder accepts some petting, overall he is uncomfortable in the care center.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: ~5 years Microchip noted on Intake? negative History : o/s Subjective: BARH Observed Behavior – very sweet but a little nervous and cowered down in the cage. Got out of the cage easily. Easily handleable. Did well for all medical handling and procedures Evidence of Cruelty seen – no Evidence of Trauma seen – no Objective P = wnl R = eupneic BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: adult dentition, mild dental disease with fractured upper left canine, no oral lesions noted PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupneic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: MI, 2 testicles descended MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: Mild dental disease Plan: Continue to monitor while at BACC Rec dental in the future Prognosis: Excellent SURGERY: ok to schedule for surgery

S/O: QARH. Allows handling. Food untouched. Formed stool and pile of liquid diarrhea EENT: Eyes clear, no ocular or nasal discharge HL: No sneezing A: Diarrhea, questionable appetite P: Rec metronidazole 0.4ml PO q12 x 5 days. Recheck appetite tomorrow. Consider appetite stimulant if not improved. Good prognosis

Basic Information:: Thunder is a 5 yr old , DSH Male cat that was surrendered due to Landlord issues. Thunder has never suffered any health issues or injuries. Thunder was given to the previous owners as a gift. Thunder hasn’t visited the vet recently.
Previously lived with:: 1 adult, 1 child
How is this cat around strangers?: Around strangers thunder approach with a loose body for rubbing and petting. He allows strangers to hold and pick him up. when strangers come inside the home ,he likes to walk in and out of their legs until he is rubbed.
How is this cat around children?: Thunder has lived with a child from the ages of 1 and up. He was super affectionate and playful towards the child. They slept together almost every night.Thunder never exposed a issues towards the child.
How is this cat around other cats?: No experience with any cats.
How is this cat around dogs?: No experience with any dogs.
Behavior Notes: Thunder isn’t bothered by the following : being picked up or held, being bushed or having his nails trimmed, being pushed off of furniture, loud sounds or sudden movements. Thunder is fully litter box trained with no record of accidents. He uses clumping unscented litter in an uncovered litter box.
Bite history:: Thunder hasn’t bitten within the past 10 days. No known bite history.

For a New Family to Know: Thunder is described as friendly and affectionate. Thunder does follow the people in the household throughout the home. He was fed dry cat food of any brand 2x a day. Thunder plays with all toys. sometimes he’ll play with balled up socks.

Reaction to assessor:: Thunder was crouched and wary, hiding underneath his kuranda bed.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Thunder lip licks and slowly turns his head away from the assessor.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Thunder remains motionless.
Reaction to touch:: Thunder seems unsure and shrinks his body when the assessor extends his hand out. His body tenses up when touched, he tolerates petting and slowly starts to warm up with attention. After a few passes along his body he perks up, extends his neck and leans in for rubs on his cheeks.
