11/13/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Theresa was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Her finder was able to place her into a carrier and bring her to the care center. She allowed all handling upon intake, but attempted to flee during her initial medical exam. Although she gave some mournful meows during the exam, she tolerated all handling. Reaction to assessor: Theresa was lying down, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Theresa burrows her head under her blanket. Reaction to cage door opening: Theresa becomes alert, but remains in place. Reaction to touch: Theresa was a little hesitant of contact, but she accepts petting. She meows softly once, but slowly warms up and leans in for cheek rubs, closing her eyes. She doesn’t seem to mind attention, but appears wary of her surroundings. Reaction to being picked up: Theresa’s body is tense, but she remains calm when held. Behavior Determination: Experienced Theresa tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
