SAFE 6/21/18 TINY was brought to the shelter by her owners but taken back when they found out she was pregnant because they said they wanted the kittens. Now, Tiny and her 3 cute 9 week old kittens have been returned back to the shelter. They all need homes. Please offer to foster or adopt this foursome!

History : Surrendered to ACC then owners reclaimed after finding out she was pregnant. Owners reported signs of a URI – sneezing and vomitting. Fully distended abdomen secondary to pregnancy. Sneezing in the exam room.

EENT: Sneezing intermittently on examination. Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted
Oral Exam: UR
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Obvious late stage preg, distended, Non painful, no masses palpated
U/G: Vulva no discharge, healthy
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: Externally normal
Assessment: URI – as per sneezing in exam room and as per hx
Late stage pregnancy
Prognosis: Good
Plan: Naso-P swabs taken for IDEXX Resp PCR Panel
Send home:
Doxycycline 50mg SID PO 14 days
Cerenia 8mg SID for 4 days PO
Gave in exam room 0.5 cc cerenia SQ
Gave in exam room 0.3 cc Vit B complex SQ
SURGERY:
Temporary waiver due to owners wanting to keep kittens from the pregnancy
Advised clients to return with Tiny should the clinical signs of a URI worsen
