08/15/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Thalia was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. The enrichment facilitator has been monitoring Thalia and reports that she was fearful and would avoid all contact when she first arrived. She has warmed up a little during her stay but still only allows brief interactions before lowering her head and moving away. Her tail stays curled up at her side and she becomes very focused on all movements. Reaction to assessor: Thalia was curled up with her body lowered in the litter box. Reaction when softly spoken to: Thalia watches with wide eyes focused on the assessor but doesn’t come forward or move. Reaction to cage door opening: Thalia remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Thalia lip licks and leans her head away slowly as the assessor extends his hand out. Thalia tolerates petting with a slow approach on her head for a short amount of time. After a few seconds she becomes uncomfortable and shifts away and presses her body up against the back wall. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Thalia tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
