I came into the shelter as a aco impound on 03-Jan-2018.

Tessa is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection which is contagious to other cats. She is a bit timid and we recommend she go to a pet family that will allow her to acclimate at her own pace.

Hx: Pt was in Adoptions at the same time as another cat (17227) who was ultimately diagnosed with panleukopenia. This pt has a low panleukopenia titer indicating no protection from this disease. Due to this, this pt needs to be monitored for 14 days to ensure that she does not develop panleukopenia. P: Move to panleuk isolation area for 14 days. No need for antibiotics at this point due to likely viral cause, but monitor for progression.

Diagnosed with URI on 1/7 but no antibiotics started due to suspicion of viral infection; has been on panleukopenia quarantine since 1/4 due to exposure, quarantine is off today S/O -QAR, appears friendly and docile -good appetite -soft sneezing, mild sniffling, serous nasal discharge -eupnic A 1. URI, persistent, consider bacterial cause P -add doxycycline 0.6 ml PO SID x 10 days -recheck in 3 days

Behavior Condition: 2. Blue
KNOWN HISTORY:: Tessa was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on their behavior history or tendencies in a home environment. Her finder reports she was easy to handle.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: 01/03/18 Observed Behavior -nervous, does not like mouth examined
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 1/4/18 Crouched towards front, tense posture, fur along back slightly piloerect. Sat up and became alert when door opened. Sniffed hand, leaned away from touch and lifted paw. Seems uncomfortable with surroundings. 1/7/18 Crouched under kuranda bed, eyes a little dilated, wary, but seemed curious. Came forward when door opened, meowed quietly. Sniffed hand, a little hesitant, then leaned into pets and purred. Occasionally moved slightly away, then came back. Still a little unsure, but becoming more confident. 1/8/18 Very tense today, seems upset by loud noises made by iso suit. Crouched under kuranda bed, eyes dilated, stiff posture. Continually moved around cage to avoid pets, unable to touch at all.
Cage Condition:: Cage is slightly re-arranged
Reaction to assessor:: Tessa was lying down, calm and relaxed upon approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Tessa makes eye contact with the assessor, but does not come forward.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Tessa remains soft and relaxed.
Reaction to touch:: Tessa sniffs the assessor’s hand when extended, but was hesitant of touch and shifts away slightly. She allows gentle petting, but will focus on the assessor’s hand when pet along her body. She is a bit tense, but does not seem to mind attention.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Moderate
VOCAL:: Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE: : Shy ,Calm,Independent
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Experience
Behavior Asilomar: TM – Treatable-Manageable
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Tessa tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may need time to warm up to her new home and family. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
