***SAFE 10/17/16*** TESLER (NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH TESLA, ANOTHER LISTED CAT TONIGHT!) WAS RESCUED AS A KITTEN. NOW, THOSE SAME PEOPLE THAT SAVED HIS LIFE, PUT HIM IN A SITUATION WHERE HIS LIFE MAY BE ENDED… PERMANENTLY!! This NEUTERED, 2 year old has been around small children but never around other cats and dogs! So image his surprise, when he thrown into a place where it’s loaded with other cats and dogs!Of course he’s terrified! And SCARED! Yet the ACC can’t seem to understand that…do they rate him RESCUE ONLY! He will a NEW HOPE RESCUE to pull him, but needs a FOSTER OR ADOPTER to step up before a rescue can pull! YOU need to contact a New Hope rescue and save TESLER’S LIFE!

10/07/16 15:01 BASIC INFORMATION Tesler is a 2 year old, gray tabby. The owner rescued Tesler when he was a kitten on the street. The owner is surrendering Tesler due to Allergies. Tesler has no known illness. SOCIALIZATION Tesler has been introduced to children ages 5 years old. He approached and leans in to be petted. Tesler is friendly and outgoing. He has never been around other cats or dogs. Tesler is playful and affectionate around the 5 adults. BEHAVIOR Tesler has never received a bath or had his nails trimmed. But he allows to be picked up and goings into his carrier. He always uses his litter box. He uses his rough rope scratching post. He has never had a bite or scratch history. Tesler when playing sometimes plays rough and uses his claws playfully. FOR NEW FAMILIES TO KNOW Tesler is described as friendly, playful and gentle. He enjoys sleeping on the owner’s chest or lap. At night he sleeps on his bed. He enjoys any dry cat food. His favorite toys are stuffed mice toys or wands. He loves to snuggle and curl up next to people. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE Tesler during intake was fractious, hissing, spitting and swatting. He did not allow to be collard or photographed.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Tesler has been around children ages 5 years old and allows them to pet him. He is friendly around strangers and is playful and affectionate around adults. He allows being picked up and doesn’t mind going in a carrier. He can play rough and will sometimes use his claws. His owner describes him as friendly, playful and gentle. At home he likes to play with stuffed mice toys and chaser wands. Reaction to assessor: Tesler was curled up inside his litter box with his tail at his side. Reaction when softly spoken to: Tesler hisses and grumbles at the assessor with his ears bent flat. Reaction to cage door opening: Tesler remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Tesler sniffs the assessor’s hand and tolerates petting briefly then hisses and swats. He is uncomfortable, shifts away and allows no more contact. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Tesler is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
