08/08/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Tesler and at the time she was hesitant of contact. Tesler stress meows as you approach. She leans away and closes eyes but tolerates petting. Tesler flinches with wide eyes as she whips around when touched on back. Reaction to assessor: Tesler was at the front of the cage behind the clipboard When spoken quietly: Tesler stays at front and stares at the assessor Reaction to door cage opening: Tesler stress meows as she retreats Reaction to touch: Tesler stress meows but allows petting with a slow aproach Try picking cat up: Tesler is tolerant of this type of handling but tense Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Tesler was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment she was displaying fearful behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and starts to stress meows when the kennel was open. Retreats as I started to get closer but after a steady slow approach using soft voices she relaxed a little. I was able to pet her and interact with her in a limited way. I was also able to pick her up and although she was tense no fractious behavior was display. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents with no children.
