***SAFE 01/15/16***GENTLE TED IS TERRIFIED—BE HIS HERO! Take a look at poor Ted’s intake pic—the calm and shy one year old gingerbread man looks positively petrified and who can blame him? After all, someone trapped him and dumped him at the kill happy shelter. Actually upon approach, Ted tolerates handling and needs a kind and patient purrson who is willing to give him a new “leash” on life and chance to warm up on his own terms. Ted is healthy, young and deserves a chance to live a happy life. He just deserves a chance to live—period. However, he won’t make it past noon tomorrow if we don’t advocate for his precious life tonight. Please be this shy and gentle fella’s rescue angel by reserving him online. Transportation is available by contacting one of our New Hope partners. Email our help desk for assistance and we will lead you through the process. Even if you can only offer temp safe haven, let us know and we will assist you. We can’t let a young, healthy and gentle cat die just because he’s homeless. Ted is counting on us. Let’s get started NOW!!!

01/09/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
01/09/16 14:03 Ted was brought into our facility in a trap as a stray so a detailed profile is not available. However, upon intake Ted appeared very nervous and was trying to flee from the trap. His eyes were dilated and his ears were back. I reached out my hand to pet him and he sniffed it and allowed me to touch him. Going slowly, Ted seemed to allow some handling.

01/11/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Ted came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Upon intake, Ted was nervous but allowed limited handling. Reaction to assessor: Ted is hiding in his den as the assessor approaches. Reaction when softly spoken to: Ted looks at the assessor, wide eyes, body tense. Reaction to cage door opening: Ted is pressed against the back of his den. Reaction to touch: Ted searches for an exit while being petted and urinates. Placement Determination: Experience No Child Ted does not approach the assessor and is fearful of all handling. Ted is exhibiting behavior suited to experienced cat parents with no children who can provide a calm environment and allow him to adjust at his own pace. 1/13 update: Ted is not thriving in the shelter environment and is only minimally tolerant of touch or interaction. We recommend that Ted move into a stable home environment as quickly as possible.
