09/27/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish, Independent KNOWN HISTORY: Taz was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 9/24/17- Observed Behavior – Ready to run – jumps up and tries to claw her way out of the Freeman net. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 9/25/17 Kitten. Extremely fearful. Crouched behind litter box, body low, tense posture. Retreated, then fled when door opened. Hissed, spat, continued to flee when attempted pets. Escaped when attempted to swaddle. 9/26/17 Crouched behind litter box, alert, eyes dilated. Started hissing when door opened. Spat and struck assess-a-hand when offered treats. Tolerated very brief pets, then fled to other kennel. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Taz remains tense, crouched positon with head down hiding in the litter box. Reaction when softly spoken to: Taz becomes alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to cage door opening: Taz stiffens body, ears erect and forward, focused on the hand. Reaction to touch: Taz sniffs the hand then increases distance while briefly allowing the touched but began to hiss and runs toward the other side of the cage to avoid contact. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Taz may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home who understands this cat may need time to warm up to her new home and family at her own pace.
