**Taylor is a black and white spayed domestic short hair. She came to the center as a stray. Taylor is a very sweet girl and would make someone a wonderful companion.

Hello, my name is Taylor. My animal id is #17122. I am a desexed female black cat at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 7 years 2 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a stray on 28-Dec-2017.
Taylor is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other cats. Taylor has been friendly in the care center and has allowed all handling.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: ~6-8 years Microchip noted on Intake? positive 985112003379804 History : stray Subjective: BARH Observed Behavior – tolerated handling but nervous and low growls with handling. Easily handleable. Did well for all medical handling and procedures Evidence of Cruelty seen – no Evidence of Trauma seen – no Objective P = wnl R = eupneic BCS 6/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: adult dentition with moderate dental disease and fractured canines, no oral lesions noted PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupneic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: FS-spay scar noted when ventrum shaved, no MGTs, no vulvar d/c MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: Dental disease Plan: Continue to monitor while at BACC Rec dental with placement Prognosis: Excellent SURGERY: spayed

Monitor for URI S/O: BARH. Attention seeking. Allows all handling. Appetite OK EENT: Eyes clear, mild crusted mucoid and ative serous nasal discharge HL: Normal RR/RE, no sneezing observed but large amount of sneeze marks in cage MS: Ambulatory x 4, overweight INTEG: Wound at caudal dorsum, active bloody purulent discharge UG: Spayed A: URI, ruptured abscess P: Rec doxycycline 1ml PO q24 x 10 days. Move to medical to clip around wound and explore, +/- sedation for wound treatment. Good prognosis 2p: Administered simbadol 0.55ml SQ. Sedated with telazol 0.1ml IM. Maintained on isoflurane. Clipped caudal dorsum and tail base. Multiple healed wounds. Ruptured abscess right of midline ~1-2cm cranial to tail base with purulent discharge. Small raised swelling at tail base, lanced with #15 blade. Expressed ~1-2ml of purulent, flushed with dilute nolvasan followed by sterile LRS. Drain not indicated. Administered convenia 0.45ml SQ. Routine recovery from sedation. Ecollar placed. Continue simbadol 0.55ml SQ for 2 more days. Excellent prognosis

Progress exam History: Intake 12/28 1/10-an abscess was noted on the tail when diagnosed with URI. Started on doxycycline and anesthetized for wound clip/scrub. Subjective: BARH. No csvd. Abscess on base of tail is healing nicely with no active d/c. URI is very mild. Eating great on her own. Objective BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, no nasal discharge noted PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: Eupneic, normal RR/RE ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: FS, no MGTs, no vulvar d/c MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat, base of tail on dorsum is shaved with multiple open areas from ruptured abscess, no active d/c CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: URI Ruptured abscess Dental disease Plan: Continue to monitor while at BACC Continue doxycycline until 1/19 Last day of simbadol Rec dental with placement Prognosis: Excellent

KNOWN HISTORY:: Taylor was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home.

Reaction to touch:: Taylor purrs softly and nuzzles up against the assessor’s arms. She gives head butts, rolls over on her side and allows petting all over her body.
Reaction to being picked up:: Taylor was tense when picked up and started to vocalize in the assessor’s arms. She tries to wiggle away, then leaps back into the kennel.
