05/13/17 17:38 Animal’s appearance – Taquito was soaked when brought into the facility and appeared slightly underweight. Animal’s demeanor with you – Taquito was meowing in the trap and would flee to the back of trap upon approach. Taquito was transferred directly from trap to den. There was no handling. Taquito did not display any concerning behavior such as hissing or growling when being transferred. Client stated he set the trap because Taquito has been using his garden as a litterbox.

Upon intake, Taquito was meowing and attempted to flee. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Very nervous, attempted to flee, did not allow much handling EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Taquito is hiding in his den Reaction when softly spoken to: Taquito remains hidden Reaction to cage door opening: Taquito cries, looks at assessor with wide eyes Reaction to touch: Taquito shifts away to avoid touch, looks for an exit ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Somewhat chatty CHARACTER TYPE: Timid, Skittish POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: – Fearful RECOMMENDATIONS: – Placement with a New Hope partner Behavior observations _x_ New Hope Only Taquito is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
