I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 02/13/2017 from NY 10304, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

02/13/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO
02/13/17 09:00 Finder did not have any interaction with animal as it was brought to our facility in a trap. Finder did state that animal was swatting through the trap. Behavior during intake: Taco was at the back of the trap lip licking and hissing. Counselor was able to transfer into a den. In the den, animal went to the back and had a stiff body. Counselor was able to scan for a mc but not able to collar due to animal hissing.

A1103596 TACO Taco came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Finder stated that Snow approached them, and upon intake, Taco was at the back of the trap lip licking and hissing. Counselor was able to transfer into a den. In the den, Taco went to the back and had a stiff body. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Clean, put together. Reaction to assessor: Taco is on top of his den, relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Taco does not respond. Reaction to cage door opening: Taco retreats, ears down, tense. Reaction to touch: Taco move away to avoid touch and hisses. Reaction to being picked up: Did not attempt. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: nervous, tense, growling, hissing, and try to scratch and bite though net used. Exam limited due net used ACTIVITY LEVEL: Low VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: scared, uncomfortable RECOMMENDATIONS: _x_ Placement with a New Hope partner BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: __ New Hope Only Taco is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
