***SAFE 07/16/16*** Don’t TACO’s eyes just melt your heart? This handsome orange and white NEUTERED gentleman is just 5 years young. He was living outside where a nice purr-son fed him every day for the last 2 years, and even brought him inside when it got cold out. His caretaker knows what a sweet boy Taco is, and took him to the ACC thinking they would find him the loving home he so deserves. This person was very wrong unfortunately. He is rated EXPERIENCED, only because he isn’t a big fan of being placed in a carrier. Other than that, Taco is the best! A volunteer writes: “As soon as I called Taco’s name, this sunshiny boy came to the front of his cat condo, shaking the sleep out of his eyes and letting me know that he was ready for a friendly meet and greet. I shouldn’t have been so surprised at how glad he was to hang with a human. His finders told us that Taco would made it a habit of waiting by their door for them to come home. After feeding Taco and getting to know this sweet lion, his finders felt he would be happier in a forever home. They said that he enjoys sitting in laps, likes sunbathing, is respectful of other cats, and adores being petted (the latter which was confirmed by the Care Center’s behavior assessor). Because he’s so clean, already neutered, and comfortable with people, he clearly was a house cat–and in a house is where Mr. Taco belongs!” The ACC want to KILL HIM AT NOON TOMORROW if no one steps up for him! Please don’t let Taco die without ever getting the home he’s been longing for for so long. He used to try to follow his care taker in the house, he obviously knows what “home” is. Can he snuggle with you? Step up for him TONIGHT!

06/27/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
06/27/16 13:50 BASIC INFO Taco is an adult neutered DSH cat. His caretaker was feeding him outside for 2 years. She brought him to ACC because she thinks he would do best in a home. SOCIALIZATION Taco is friendly with strangers. He is respectful of most other cats. There’s one cat who lived in the area before him and would chase him away. Now, Taco will eat next to him but otherwise hides from him and growls if he approaches him. Taco bit his caretaker for the first time while she was putting him in a carrier to bring him to ACC. BEHAVIOR Taco allows people to pick him up and hold him. He struggles and bites when put into a carrier. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Taco’s caretaker describes him as friendly, affectionate, mellow, and low-medium energy. He eats dry and wet Friskies foods. He waits at the door for his finder to come home and tries to follow her inside. He likes to sit in people’s laps, be pet, and to lie in the sun. Taco’s caretaker reports that she brought him inside during bad weather and kept him in a room separate from her 5 cats. He was well-behaved inside. He used an open litterbox with clumping litter and didn’t have accidents. INTAKE Taco was tense while we scanned him (-), collared him, and took his pictures.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Taco’s caretaker has been feeding him outside for two years. He was brought to the care center because they believed he would do well in a home. He would wait by their door until they come home and tries to follow them inside. He was reported to be friendly with strangers, and is respectful with most cats. There was a cat that lived in the area before him, and he would chase him away. He will eat next to this cat, but will otherwise hide and growl at him if he approaches. He allows people to pick him up and hold him, but may struggle when placed in a carrier. He was best described as friendly, affectionate, and mellow with a low-medium energy level. He likes to sit in people’s laps, be petted, and sun bathes. Reaction to assessor: Taco looks neutral, sitting upright on his cage bedding when approached. Reaction to door opening: Taco remains in place, relaxed body posture, soliciting attention. Reaction to touch: Taco head-butts the assessor’s hand and appreciates petting on the head and body. Reaction to Being Picked up: He allows the pickup and remains calm. Placement determination: Experience Taco interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for cat parents with an average amount of experience, however due to incident with his caretaker when trying to place him into a carrier, we recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents who will take extra care when placing him into a carrier to avoid any future accidents.
