I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 05/12/2017 from NY 11238, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

KNOWN HISTORY: Syros was brought in as a stray, so we do not have information on his behavior in his previous home. He was calm and relaxed during intake, allowing the counselor to handle him. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – growled throughout exam but was able to perform exam with no issue EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Syros was resting upon approach, lying down with his eyes closed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Syros looks at the assessor and blinks sleepily, and then closes his eyes again to rest. Reaction to cage door opening: Syros remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Syros sniffs the assessor’s hand and accepts petting on his head and body, appearing aloof. He seems to appreciate chin rubs and will lean in for cheek rubs. Reaction to pick up: Syros shifts his weight back and struggles to be placed back down. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Calm, Independent RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced cat parent – Syros tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. Syros may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
