08/12/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
08/12/16 16:13 Basic Info: Symba A1085190 is a 13yr old male chocolate Siamese feline who was given to the owner from the previous owner 2yrs ago & is being surrendered due to no time. Symba was last seen by a veterinarian as a kitten and currently has no known health issues/injuries. Socialization: Around strangers Symba is shy for several minutes. He’s spent time with a 4yr old child but will run/hide from them. With the adults he was gentle, relaxed & affectionate (at times) with them. Symba hasn’t been around other animals nor has he bitten/scratched any person or animal. Behavior: Symba hasn’t been on a car ride. He isn’t bothered by being placed into a carrier. Symba hasn’t been given a bath, had his nails trimmed or been disturbed while sleeping/resting. Symba doesn’t like to be picked up/held too much, he will come to you when he wants affection/attention. For a New Family to Know: Symba is described as friendly (at times), confident & quiet with a low activity level. When the owner is home Symba follows them around sometimes. He enjoys ball & mouse toys at times and is an indoor only cat that sleeps around the home. Symba eats dry & wet Friskies 1-3x a day. He is uncovered litter box trained with crystal or clumping litter within and has/uses a carpeted/rope scratching post. Intake Behavior: Symba had a semi tense body and would hiss but still allowed handling. He allowed to be scanned (-), collared & taken pictures of but due to him attempting to flee and staring/sniffing down onto the back drop table it made getting a good picture of him difficult. Symba didn’t seem to mind being picked up/held much and was placed into a kennel with ease.

08/14/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Symba’s previous owner reports he is shy around strangers for several minutes. He has spent time with a child and will run and hide from the child. Around adults, he was gentle, relaxed, and sometimes affectionate. Symba does not like to be picked up and held too much, he will approach someone when he wants attention. He was best described as friendly (at times), confident, and quiet with a low activity level. He tends to follow the owner around at home sometimes, but enjoys ball and mouse toys. Reaction to assessor: Symba was lying down, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Symba loks at the assessor with relaxed eyes and sniffs around. Reaction to cage door opening: Symba remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Symba sniffs the assessor’s hand, but shifts away slightly when touched. He allows petting along his body and seems mostly indifferent, but appears to be hesitant of contact on his head. He allows brief touch on his head before shifting away again and curls his tail around his body. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Symba tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Due to his previous owner reporting he would hide from the child he lived with, it may be in Symba’s best interest to go to a home without children.
