***SAFE 10/25/17*** SWEET AFFECTIONATE AND CALM SYLVESTER WAS DUMPED BY OWNER FOR MOVING TO NON-PET FRIENDLY QUARTERS!! BEGINNER RATED SYLVESTER was a gift from a friend and present owner has had him for 6 months. He was great with children and a friendly and social kitty. Sylvester has some urinary tract issues which will need follow up vet care. This wonderful cat needs a rescue angel tonight in the form of an adopter or foster. CAN YOU GIVE THIS BOY A FREEDOM RIDE? Hello, my name is Sylvester. My animal id is #10357. I am a male black cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 4 years old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 21-Oct-2017, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- moving – no pets allowed.
Sylvester 10357 is at risk for feline idiopathic cystitis. Behaviorally, Sylvester has been social and affectionate in the care center and is suitable for a first-time adopter.

Presented with non obstructive urinary signs; started on prazosin and simbadol S/O QAR, docile, allows handling urinated small amount of bloody urine in box; straining in box licking prepuce mm pk, tacky; CRT <2 sec no nasal discharge or sneezing OU: open and clear, pupils dilated due to simbadol AU-erythematous, mild crusting; pruritic, worse AS eupnic, heart/lungs WNL abdomen soft, bladder too small to palpate A FLUTD, non obstructive Otitis externa P Tresaderm AU SID x 7 days sedate today with 0.15 ml dexdom IM for lateral radiograph Onsior 0.6 ml SQ SID x 3 days rec’d prescription urinary diet for long term maintenance

Upon intake Sylvester allowed all handling. He allowed being picked up and placed in a carrier. he allowed counselor to collar him and was receptive to head touches and was purring continuously.

How is this cat around strangers?: Around strangers Sylvester is described as outgoing and plays gentle with them.
How is this cat around children?: Around children he is described as relaxed and plays gentle with them
How is this cat around other cats?: He has never been socialized with cats so this behavior is unknown.
How is this cat around dogs?: Ha has never been socialized with dogs so this behavior is unknown.
Behavior Notes: Sylvester will meow during car rides has never had his nails trimmed or a bath and will struggle when being placed in a carrier. He enjoys being brushed and petted and isn’t bothered with being picked up or being disturbed while asleep.

He will follow you around when home with you, likes to play with balls, strings and wand toys and has been kept indoors only. He can sleep just about anywhere and ate fancy feast wet food 2 times a day. He prefers and uncovered litter box with clumping litter and a scratching post made of rough rope.
