BEHAVIOR:
Reaction to assessor: Sweets was wrapped up in her blanket with her back facing the assessor
When spoken quietly: Sweets was wrapped up in her blanket with her back facing the assessor
Reaction to door cage opening: Sweets remains motionless
Reaction to touch: Sweets was very uncomfortable when touched but allowed petting with a slow aproach
Try picking cat up: Sweets was tolerant of this type of handling but very tense.
Behavior Determination: Experience
Sweet was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment she was displaying fearful behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Remains motionless as I started to get closer but after a steady slow approach using soft voices she relaxed a little. I was able to pet her and interact with her in a limited way. I was also able to pick her up and although she was tense no fractious behavior was display. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
