08/05/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid ENRICHMENT NOTES: 8/3/17 Overgrooming on abdomen. Pressed to back of cage, eyes dilated, tense. Came forward and played gently with given mouse toy. Startled and retreated when spoken to, but came slowly forward again with some coaxing, started slow blinking. Lay in place when door opened, leaned into pets. Social eater, needs lots of reassurance, stops frequently to look around. Really sweet, just seems anxious of surroundings. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Sunnie remains tense, tucked limbs hiding in the cubby with head up. Reaction to cage door opening: Sunnie remains stiff, alert with eyes wide open, ears erect and forward. Reaction to touch: While Sunnie accepts the touch, his ears flatten sideways then turned head away from the assessor’s hand. After a few minutes, he slowly leans into the hand for chin rubs, but remains cautious with his surroundings and began to lip lick in place. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Sunnie tolerates attention and petting but may be stressed in the shelter. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
