SAFE 11/15/17 A volunteer writes: It’s always sad when the days of Summer end, but now there is a way to have Summer every day of the year. You can adopt Summer from the ACC! This golden guy is very friendly and playful. He will roll over to be petted, then chase one of his favorite toys around. Summer is partial to catnip and dancer toys, but what he really enjoys is being with people. His sunny attitude will warm up your heart and your home.
NEW PHOTOS! SUMMER is a neutered boy whose owner dumped at the shelter. He is a bit nervous and would love a new home for the holidays ahead.

Basic Information:Summer is a 2 year old altered male DSH. Summer was adopted from ACC when he ws 2months and is being surrendered due to the Child in the home being fearful and allergic to Summer.

How is this cat around strangers?Around strangers Summer is friendly he approaches them for a sniff and allows tehm to pet him.
How is this cat around children?Summer has lived with and 8 and 9 year old children, Around the 9 year old Summer is relaxed and gentle. The Youngest child in the home is fearful of Summer, but summer likes to jump on her bed and will swat or play bite at her feet when she walk by him.
How is this cat around other cats?Summer is uncomfortable around other cats and hisses and growl whenever he sees them.
How is this cat around dogs?Summer has never been around dogs.
Behavior NotesSummer likes to go into the hallway and basement od the home. Summer isn’t bothered when he is getting brushed and goes into the carrier with no issues.
Bite history:Summer has no bite history.

Has this cat ever had any medical issues?NoFor a New Family to KnowSummer was described as playful, and Independent. He likes to play with String toys, cat dancers and chasing toys. Summer likes to sleep behind the couns and is feed dry and wet food 3 times a day. he is litter box trained and uses a hooded box with clumping litter. Summer has a scratching postmade of cardboard.
Behavior Notes:Upon intake Summer was very timid with his head low and his ears down but he allowed the counselor to pick him up, collar him and take a Photo.

Behavior toward cats: Uncomfortable, will hiss and growl when seeing them

Observed Behavior – Hissed once while in carrier. On exam table, tense but allowed all handling

Reaction to assessor:
Summer was lying down by the back, calm and relaxed.
Reaction when softly spoken to:
Summer rolls over and displays his belly, and then rubs his cheeks against his bedding and litter box.
Reaction to cage door opening:
Summer remains calm and relaxed.
Reaction to touch:
Summer sniffs the assessor’s hand and accepts petting. He leans in for cheek rubs, rubs his head against various objects in his kennel, begins to purr, and rolls over again.
Reaction to being picked up:
Summer is a bit tense during pick up, but is calm when held.
H – Healthy
Summer interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.

CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
