So don’t pass this girl by, come see for yourself that she is a great kitty.” Six year old Stormy is positively purrfect–spayed, kind, gentle, friendly, affectionate–an all around great gal and purrfect companion. She sadly lost her home when her former owner moved and decided not to take her and her lookalike friend, Teddy along. Teddy is safe but poor Stormy’s precious life is in peril tonight. 09/25/16 13:12 Basic Information: Storm is a 6 year old spayed female DSH that has no past or current medical issues that the owner is aware of. Owner has Storm for 5 years but had to surrender to due landlord not allowing pets. Socialization: According to the owner, around strangers Storm is shy for a few minutes at first. Once she warms up, she plays very gently with others. She has been around children of all ages & is shy at first & will hide but once she is comfortable she will play gently with children. Storm comes from a home that had another cat in it & owner stated she was relaxed, respectful and affectionate with the other cat. She has never been around another dog therefore behavior is unknown. Storm has never bit another animal or person while in the care of the owner. Behavior: In the car, Storm gets very nervous and will meow, Urinate and vomit. She will struggle to get away if someone tries to give her a bath. Storm is not bothered by having her nails trimmed, being picked up/held, being put into a carrier or being disturbed while sleeping. She enjoys having her coat brushed and will purr. For a New Family to Know: Storm is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, shy around strangers, independent, and quiet with a low activity level. In the home, she would like to follow the owner around and be in the same room as the owner or stay in her favorite spot. She enjoys playing with balls & string toys. Storm was kept indoors only & is litter box trained. In the home, she used an uncovered litter box with clumping litter. Owner did have a scratching post in the home that Storm would use from time to time. She would also scratch at the furniture in the home. Owner fed Storm dry food only brand name not given. Behavior during intake: Storm was nervous during intake and lip licking. I was able to scan her for a mc, collar her and take her picture without any issues. After a few minutes, she warmed up and started to solicit attention by rubbing her head against my hand.

09/28/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE

Stormy’s previous owner reports she is shy around strangers for a few minutes initially. Once she warms up, she plays gently with them. She has been around children of all ages and is also shy, hiding from them, but will play gently with them once she is comfortable. She has lived with another cat and was relaxed, respectful, and affectionate with this cat. She was described as friendly, affectionate, playful, shy around strangers, independent, and quiet with a low activity level. In the home, she would like to follow the owner around and be in the same room as the owner or stay in her favorite spot. The enrichment facilitator reports she was friendly during their first interaction. She allowed them to pet her all over. Reaction to assessor: Stormy was calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Stormy leans forward to sniff the assessor, and then she rubs her head against her litter box. Reaction to cage door opening: Stormy remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Stormy allows the assessor to pet her all over with slow movements. She slowly gets up, approaches the front, and rubs her head against the assessor for attention with her tail swaying back and forth. Reaction to pick up: Stormy was a bit tense during pick up, and then looks around at her surroundings when held. Behavior Determination: Average Stormy interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
