09/30/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Stitches has lived with children ages 8 and up and was relaxed and respectful with them. Around strangers he is friendly and outgoing and he lived in harmony with another neutered cat. He can be fearful when going into a carrier and doesn’t enjoy being picked up. His owners describe him as shy, playful, and mellow inside the home and say he likes to play with string, wands and chasing toys. Reaction to assessor: Stitches was lying down on his blanket near the front of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Stitches becomes alert, leans forward a bit to see the assessor but doesn’t get up. Reaction to cage door opening: Stitches curls up tight and lip licks. Reaction to touch: Stitches is a little unsure and leaned away when the assessor extended his hand out. He sniffs the assessor’s hand then allows petting all over slowly and leans in for cheek rubs. His head lifts up, appreciates attention but turns around and becomes focused when touched on his back. Reaction to being picked up: Stitches has a tense body when picked up due to his girth then gets antsy and leaps away. Behavior Determination: Experience Stitches may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
