Hello, my name is Steven. My animal id is #13005. I am a desexed male gray cat at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 10 years 2 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a stray on 18-Nov-2017, with the surrender reason stated as person health – allergies.
Steven is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other cats.

URI diagnosed on rounds S/O: QARH. Resting comfortably in kuranda bed. Allows all handling, headbutting, purring. Dry food available, appears untouched EENT: Nuclear sclerosis, moderate serous nasal discharge HL: Sneezing, sneeze marks in cage, normal thoracic auscultation, clear lung sounds INTEG: WNL MS: Ambulatory x 4 UG: Neutered A: Geriatric, URI P: Rec doxycycline 1.5ml PO q24 x 10 days. Good prognosis

Basic Information:: Steve is brown tabby medium hair cat that is 12 year old. He was a gift from a litter of kitten. The owner is surrendering Steven due to another family member having allergies to the cat.
Previously lived with:: 3 adults
How is this cat around strangers?: When strangers come over he keeps his distance and meow. Sometimes he will approach and sniff. But prefer to stand away. He takes a few days to warm up to new people.
How is this cat around children?: He has been introduced to a new born and children of various ages. He keeps his distance and will approach to sniff.
How is this cat around other cats?: Steven lived with 2 other altered cats in the home. The cats lived in harmony sometimes engaged in play around the house. Steven enjoys sleep and running and chasing the cats.
How is this cat around dogs?: Never introduced to dogs.
Behavior Notes: He allowed to be bathed once. The owner has never trimmed his nails. He enjoys his coat brushed. He sometimes allows to be petted.
Bite history:: Never had a bite or scratch history.

For a New Family to Know: Steven is described as aloof, vocal and sometimes affectionate. He likes to look out the window. He will sometime play with string toys and stuffed toy. He mostly enjoys being around the other house cats.

Reaction to assessor:: Steven was curled up tight near the back of the cage.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Steven seems very wary of his surroundings and has wide eyes focused on the assessor.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Steven remains motionless.
Reaction to touch:: Steven lip licks and looks around the kennel frantically when approached by the assessor. He allows petting, slowly starts to warm up with attention and nuzzles against the assessor’s hand. He appreciates attention but wasn’t confident to get up out of his litter box.
