09/06/16 16:57 BASIC INFORMATION Star is a spayed, torbie DHS cat that is 7 year old. Star was a gift to the owner. Since a kitten she has been part of the family. The owner can care for Star due to allergies. Star has no known illness. SOCIALIZATION Star has been around children ages 5 and up. She allows being petted and picked up. When strangers come over Star approaches and sniff. She warms up to new people quickly. She has lived with 2 adults in the house. She is friendly and affectionate. She has never lived with dogs or cats. BEHAVIOR Star allows most handling. She always uses her litter box. Star struggle receiving bath, getting her nails trimmed or brushed her coat. She walks into her carrier and isn’t bothered when disturbed from a nap. She has never had a bite or scratch history. Sometimes she scratches the furniture such as the sofa. FOR NEW FAMILIES TO KNOW Star is described as playful, affectionate and friendly. Favorite activity is to sleep and look out the window. Her favorite food is any brand of cat food wet or dry. She enjoys playing with balls and stuffed toys. Star enjoys being around people. When the owner come home she greet the owner by the door and meows. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE During intake Star allowed being collard, scanned and photographed. She was a bit tense and attempted to hide. But slowly allowed all handling.

As per previous owners, Star has been around children ages 5 and up and doesn’t mind being picked up or petted. She warms up to new people quickly and is friendly and affectionate with adults. She is litter box trained and will sometimes scratch at the furniture. Her owner describes her as playful, affectionate, and friendly. She enjoys playing with balls and stuffed toys and loves being around people. Reaction to assessor: Star makes eye contact and was relaxed on her blanket at the back of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Star is curious, comes forward slowly and lightly head butts the kennel door. Reaction to cage door opening: Star is calm and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Star meows softly at the assessor with wide eyes and slowly leans away as the assessor extends his hand out. She seems unsure and slowly leaned forward allowing petting with a slow approach. Her body is a bit tense and she allows a few pets before getting uncomfortable and swatting (no claws). Behavior Determination: Experience Star may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
