ENRICHMENT NOTES: 05/08/17 Round and cute. He stretches and comes forward when spoken to and greets my hand with a head-butt when I open the kennel door. Allows all petting, raising his tail and leaning in to my hand and arms. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is slightly re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Spotty was lying down alongside her litter box at the back of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Spotty comes forward to greet and gently brushes her body up against the kennel furnishings. Reaction to cage door opening: Spotty is calm and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Spotty purrs softly, gives gentle head butts when rubbed and allows petting all over. She appreciates attention and is very affectionate. Reaction to being picked up: Spotty is calm, relaxed and allows all handling. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Lively VOCAL: Somewhat chatty CHARACTER TYPE: Sweet, Affectionate, Social POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: Inappropriate elimination – Spotty’s previous owners report that she was eliminating (urinating and defecating) outside the litter box daily. We are unaware of what, if any, modifications steps were taken to try and address this behavior in the home, so we cannot be sure what the trigger may have been or if this behavior may continue in a future home. However, we recommend that potential adopters be comfortable with management and modification techniques for elimination outside the litter box should this behavior continue in a home environment. RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced cat parent – Spotty interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. However due to Spotty having daily litter box accidents we recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
