I am a male black and white domestic sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 11 MONTHS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 10/28/2016 from NY 10304, owner surrender reason stated was PERS PROB. I came in with Group/Litter #K16-079615.

10/28/16 18:57 Basic Information: Spot is a 10 month old unneutered male DSH that has no past or current medical issues that the owner is aware of. Owner has had Spot for 9 months but had to surrender due to landlord issues. Socialization: According to the owner, around strangers Spot is shy for a few minutes at first but once he is comfortable he plays gently with adults. He has been around children ages 11, 17 & 19 & was always relaxed & affectionate with the children/teenagers. Spot has been around another cat & would stay away from the other animal and not interact. He has also been around a dog & owner stated that they would both snuggle and play together. Behavior: In the car, Spot is usually afraid and will meow. Spot enjoys having his coat brushed and being picked up/ held. He is not bothered by being disturbed while sleeping. When the owner would try to bathe Spot, he would struggle to get away and hiss. Owner has never tried to trim his nails or put him into a carrier therefore behavior is unknown. For a New Family to Know: Spot is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, assertive, independent and talkative with a very high activity level. In the home he would follow the owner around. Owner stated that Spot enjoyed playing with string in the home. Spot was kept indoors only & is litter box trained. In the home, he used an uncovered litter box with clumping litter. Owner did not have a scratching post in the home & stated that Spot would scratch on owner’s furniture or cardboard instead. Owner fed Spot both wet & dry food brand not given. Behavior during intake: Spot was at the back of the carrier during intake shaking. I was able to scan him for a mc, collar him and take his picture without any issues. Spot seemed to relax after a few minutes when I went slow with him.

Spot came to the shelter surrendered by an owner who described him as active, affectionate and talkative and noted that he socialized well with a dog in the home and was neutral toward another cat. Reaction to assessor: Spot is lying mid-cage, soft and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Spot looks at the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Spot stands and stretches. Reaction to touch: Spot leans into petting, appreciates petting down his back. Reaction to pick up: Spot is tolerant of this type of handling. Placement Determination: Average Spot does not approach the assessor, but appreciates petting and allows all handling. Spot is exhibiting behavior suited to average cat parents.
