07/03/17 17:10 Spidey is an altered 15 year old male DSH mix, he came to home as a stray and was surrendered due to the owner moving into an apartment that does not allows pets. Spidey is declawed on his front paws. Spidey has no recent vet history. Around strangers Spidey shy for the first few minutes and will hiss if he is approached them to hold him. He has never been around children, has never lived with other animals and has no bite history. During car rides Spidey will cry. Spidey does not like baths and will try to run. He isn’t bothered with being held but only for short periods of time, held and placed in the carrier. He was described as Friendly, Affectionate, and talkative with a low activity level. He likes playing with mouse toys and Plastic bottles. Spidey is feed Dry and wet food of nine lives brand twice a day. He is litter box trained and uses a uncovered box with Tidy cats litter. Upon intake Spidey was timid and hissed at the counselor during intake and hide in back of the carrier a photo was taking in the carrier.

KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: Adults Behavior toward strangers: Shy for the first few minutes and will hiss if he is approached Behavior toward children: Unknown Behavior toward cats: Unknown Behavior toward dogs: Unknown Bite or Scratch history: None Litter box training: Yes Energy level/descriptors: Friendly, Affectionate, and talkative with a low activity level. Other notes: He likes playing with mouse toys and Plastic bottles. He isn’t bothered with being held but only for short periods of time. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Lunging, trying to bite EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Spidey was crouched and alert near the front of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Spidey lip licks and leans over to investigate. Reaction to cage door opening: Spidey hisses and retreats to the back of the kennel. Reaction to touch: Spidey squints and seems a little hesitant of contact. He leans forward to sniff then perks up when touched and accepts petting all over. His tail sways slightly, he gives head butts and appreciates petting and attention. Reaction to being picked up: Spidey didn’t mind being picked up and remained calm in the assessor’s arms. He leaped back into the kennel then came forward to solicit attention. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid, Affectionate RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced cat parent – Spidey may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents and any home with children should conduct a thorough interaction.
