***SAFE 05/22/17***A volunteer writes: Speedy is a tuxedo love chunk who beams with curiosity and friendliness. He has since relaxed at the shelter, gazing out from the front of his condo and leaning in for head rubs and cheek squeezes. He is also very alert and attentive, your very own watch cat! This sturdy, lovable guy has beautiful emerald green eyes, a soft white chest, and the cutest mustache. And check out those fabulous mittens! If you have a soft spot for handsome gentle giants, welcome Speedy into your home.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Bold, Curious MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 5/10/17-Observed Behavior – allows exam, low growl when palpated ENRICHMENT NOTES: 5/11/17- Curled up in litter box, crammed into back corner. Very tense, eyes fully dilated. Flinched when door opened, continually leaned away from pets, and lip licked. Hissed once quietly when touched. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Speedy looks neutral, lying down on his cage bedding during the approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Speedy solicits attention, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Speedy leaned into the petting with tail up high, but became agitated with the touch then swatted the assessor’s hand off. He then retreated to the back and avoided contact. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Speedy may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
