I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 12/14/2015 from NY 10032, owner surrender reason stated was ALLERGIES.

12/14/15 11:17 Basic Information Sparrow was brought in as an owner’s surrender due to owner’s family having allergies. Owner has had Sparrow for the past two years, after receiving him from a friend. Client says as far as she knows he does not have any injuries or health concerns, and when asked two things she likes most about him owner chose how independent and loving he is. Personality & behavior Sparrow is described as playful, confident, and friendly with a medium activity level. When interacting with her young grandson, Sparrow is described as being respectful and relaxed. Sparrow is litter-box trained, and owner says he does well with it. Sparrow scratched his owner at time of intake due to being startled after his carrier broke, causing him to fall awkwardly. Owner has never attempted to bathe, brush, or trim Sparrow’s nails. Sparrow is said to be unbothered when being carried. For a new Family to Know Sparrow used the clumping form of litter with an uncovered litter-box. Owner says he does not pay with toys and does not scratch on anything. When home Sparrow is usually following his owner, and normally plays gently with her. Sparrow is afraid during car rides, and was fed both wet and dry food. Sparrow sleeps at different places in the house, and owner says he is relaxed if disturbed while sleeping. Behavior during Intake Sparrow was alert but calm during intake. He had alert eyes when counselor when approached him but allowed petting on the head. Sparrow allowed all handing, and showed no signs of aggression during intake.

As per previous owner, Sparrow is described as playful, confident, and friendly with a medium activity level. Sparrow is said to be unbothered when being carried. Reaction to assessor: Sparrow comes to the front of the cage – soliciting attention and rubbing against the bars. Reaction when softly spoken to: Sparrow stays at the front – continues to solicit attention and rub against the bars. Reaction to cage door opening: Sparrow remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Sparrow solicits petting and attention, rubbing against the assessor’s hand. Reaction to being picked up: Sparrow squirms to be put down, then immediately returns to solicit further attention. Behavior Determination: Beginner Sparrow interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat can go to a beginner home.
