06/01/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Sonny and at the time he was tense. Sonny makes eye contact from within the den. Sonny slow blinks and looks around. Sonny inches to the back when attempting to pet. Sonny is very nervous and breathing heavy. Sonny tolerates petting with scratcher. Reaction to assessor: Sonny was hiding when I approach cage When spoken quietly: Sonny continues to hide Reaction to door cage opening: Sonny retreats Reaction to touch: Sonny becomes very tense and allows limited petting Try picking cat up: Did not attempt Behavior Determination: NewHope Sonny was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. He seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment he was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. Sonny may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful and currently does not tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
