10/18/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Snow is friendly and outgoing around strangers. She has been with a newborn baby for a few months but tends to be fearful of the newborn by running into another room. When playing with adults she does playful nibbles but never breaks skin. She has lived with another cat for 5 months but we have limited information of how their behavior was with each other. Snow tends to tear up shoe boxes when she’s left alone and doesn’t mind being picked up. Her owner describes her as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, assertive, independent, and quiet with a medium activity level. Reaction to assessor: Snow was at the front of the kennel with her tail lowered and has wide eyes focused on the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Snow appears hesitant and slowly leans away while looking around her kennel. Reaction to cage door opening: Snow is alert and is wary of her surroundings. Reaction to touch: Snow is very focused on her surroundings and allows petting along her body. She leans in to sniff the assessor’s hand and will periodically stop all movements and freeze then become very focused on her surroundings. Her body was a bit tense, she kept her tail at her side but she would slowly warm up, appreciate attention and lean in for head butts. Reaction to being picked up: Snow was very tense when picked up, got antsy then leaped back into the kennel. Behavior Determination: Experience Snow may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Her owner reports that she was fearful around their newborn child so we recommend any future family with children looking to adopt conduct a thorough interaction beforehand.
