This boy is already neutered but needs some follow up dental and is hoping someone will adopt him so he can get some TLC and care. I came into the shelter as a stray on 03-Dec-2017.

Smushy is at risk for medical reasons, having been diagnosed with Upper Respiratory Infection, which is contagious to other cats. We believe that Smushy would be best suited to a cat experienced home.

Hx: Reported to have “runny eyes, drooling and scarring right eye” on 12/4. S: Quiet in the kennel, lying down, alert. O: No ocular discharge, blepharospasm, corneal opacity, conjunctival erythema or other sign of ocular disease. No nasal discharge. A: Apparently healthy P: Monitor for URI or conjunctivitis 1088
S/O -QAR, shy; regresses when approached but allows gentle handling -no obvious appetite -mm pk, sl tacky; CRT <2 sec -no nasal discharge or sneezing noted or reported today -OU: open and clear -eupnic -soft abdomen A Inappetance-r/o behavioral vs other P LRS 150 ml SQ once daily for 2 days mirtazapine 1/4 tab PO once tonight CTM appetite, if does not improve, then rec’d CBC/chem
S/O -QAR -no significant appetite -mm pk, tacky; CRT <2 sec -excessive serous nasal discharge, sneezing; mild nasal congestion -eupnic, quiet lung sounds A URI P move to isolation doxycycline 0.8 ml PO SID x 10 days LRS 150 ml SQ SID x 3 days cerenia 0.4 ml SQ SID x 2 days nebulize SID x 3 days

Behavior Condition: 2. Blue
Upon intake, Smushy was crouched and trying to hide his face in a corner. Smushy allowed all handling.
KNOWN HISTORY:: Smushy was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior -very scared-defecated during exam
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 12/4/17 Resting in back corner, eyes dilated, ears sideways. Nose running, seemed to have been recently drooling. Lay in place when door opened, leaned forward to sniff hand. Slowly leaned into pets, closed eyes. Posture noticeably softened, ears came up, eyes less dilated. Squinted and slow blinked after door closed. Sprayed thunderease.
Cage Condition:: No change
Reaction to assessor:: Smushy remains tense, crouched position turned sideways at the back of the cage.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Smushy becomes alert with eyes wide open.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Smushy seems unsure, increases distance, ears erect and forward.
Reaction to touch:: While accepting the touch Smushy began to slowly raise her hind legs and purrs while appreciating the petting.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Laid back
VOCAL:: Quiet
