09/07/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Steady VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid, Independent KNOWN HISTORY: Smokey was brought in with limited information on their behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Subjective: Bright, Alert, Responsive; very shy/timid. Allows all handling. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 9/6/17 Curled up at back of litter box, eyes dilated, face pressed into corner. Flinched slightly when door opened, then held immobile when pet. No response at all. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Smokey remains tense, crouched position at the back hiding behind the litter box. Reaction when softly spoken to: Smokey remains immobile in place with no interest. Reaction to cage door opening: Smokey tightly curls up with tail close to the body, alert with eyes dilated, ears erect and forward. Reaction to touch: Smokey accepts the touch while he slowly leans away from the assessor’s hand. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home who understands this cat may need time to warm up to his new home and family at his own pace.
