***SAFE 07/02/16*** PREGNANT 1 YEAR OLD KITTEN WAS TRAPPED BY A REGULAR “CLIENT” AND BROUGHT TO THE ACC – NOW SHE IS GOING TO BE KILLED FOR BEING AFRAID!! SMOKEY is a cute one year old tuxie girl brought into the shelter by what the shelter termed a “client”. Sadly, this grown kitten is pregnant, and was in the wrong place at the wrong time. SMOKEY allowed handling but was meowing during her assessment. She was given an EXPNOCHILD rating and sent right to tonight’s list. SMOKEY NEEDS A PLACE TO DECOMPRESS AND LEARN THAT NOT EVERYONE IS OUT TO HARM HER. PLEASE HURRY AND CONTACT A RESCUE TO PULL SMOKEY TO SAFETY. IF YOU NEED RESCUE INFO EMAIL [email protected] NOW!! SMOKEY IS DEPENDING ON YOU TONIGHT!!

06/24/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Smokey was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Reaction to assessor: Smokey slowly comes out her feral den and starts to stress meow. Reaction when softly spoken to: Smokey keeps her body low and has wide eyes focused on all movements. Reaction to cage door opening: Smokey remains neutral. Reaction to touch: Smokey’s ears bend flat and she swats as soon as you approach her. She lowers her body and continues to stress meow throughout the interaction. Her body flinches when first touched and she remains tense when pet slowly along her body. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Smokey tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
