06/20/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Smokey has lived with children. He was relaxed and respectful towards them. Smokey plays gently with children and adults. Smokey got along with his litter mate. He was very playful and affectionate with him but has not been socialized with any other cats. Smokey has lived with a dog and was respectful towards him. Reaction to assessor: Smokey appears nervous and has wide eyes When spoken quietly: Smokey leans in to sniff the assessor hand Reaction to door cage opening: Smokey remains motionless Reaction to touch: Smokey still appears nervous but allows petting with a slow and gentle approach Try picking cat up: Smokey is tolerant of this type of handling but tense Behavior Determination: Experience Smokey was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment he was displaying fearful behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Remains motionless as I started to get closer . I was able to pet him and interact with him. I was also able to pick him up and although he was tense no fractious behavior was display. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
