SMOKEY – A1065461
Safe - 3-1-2016 Brooklyn
***SAFE 03/01/16*** SMOKEY’S OWNER DIED AND HE AND HIS 3 HOUSEMATES WERE THEN DUMPED IN THE KILL HAPPY SHELTER! Why is it that when someone dies, their family just can’t seem to care for the animals, or at least honor their loved one’s love for their pet by finding them a really good home? Sadly, poor SMOKEY and his 3 pals, were just discarded like trash at the shelter. SMOKEY is about 4 years old and PERFECTLY HEALTHY!! Yet because he is afraid he was punished with an EXPNOCHILD rating and now is facing death at noon! This is so unfair and only YOU can make a change in how SMOKEY’S day will go tomorrow. SMOKEY will most likely be just fine once in a safe loving home. GIVE SMOKEY A CHANCE TO HAVE A HAPPY ENDING TO HIS STORY AND OFFER TO FOSTER OR ADOPT HIM NOW!!

02/23/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Smokey stays at the back of the cage tense with a low body When spoken quietly: Smokey remains at the back of the cage tense with a low body Reaction to door cage opening: Smokey retreats to the corner and hisses Reaction to touch: Smokey needs a very slow and gentle approach to allow petting Try picking cat up: Did not attempt Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Smokey was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment he was displaying fearful behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Retreats as I started to get closer. After a steady slow approach using soft voices he relaxed a little and I was able to pet him in a limited way. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents with no children.
