01/27/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Sisiliana was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. The finder says she was not easy to handle, but she allowed handling during her initial medical exam. Reaction to Assessor: Sisiliana becomes stiff and alert upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Sisiliana crouches over and focuses on the assessor with dilated eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Sisiliana remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Sisiliana sniffs the assessor’s hand, but hisses when pet on her head. She continues to allow petting, but will hiss randomly and growl. No further reaction was displayed. Placement Determination: Experience No Child Sisiliana tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children. 2/1 update: Silsiliana is not thriving in the busy kennel environment, and is hesitant to interact. She remains at the back of the kennel and may hiss when approached. We have no information on her behavior in her previous home to know if this is consistent behavior or if this is a result of the environment, but due to the stress Sisiliana appears to be under we feel it is in her best interest to move into a stable home environment quickly.
