ENRICHMENT NOTES:
11/09/17
Crouched in back of kennel, tail wrapped around body and pupils dilated. Ears are forward and he vocalizes softly when spoken to. He comes forward with a low body as I open the kennel door, head tilted down. He head-butts my hand as I reach forward and allows petting along his head and body while leaning and raising his rear into the air, tail tucked in-between legs. He raises his tail with continued petting each time my hand passes along his back, then drops it back down. Begins to purr and knead kennel floor. He’s very sweet, but unsure and nervous in this new environment. Needs some time to warm up. Has potential to do well here.
Cage Condition:
Cage is slightly re-arranged
Reaction to assessor:
Sir Bootz was relaxed and lying down on his blanket near the back of the kennel.
Reaction when softly spoken to:
Sir Bootz rolls over on his side and rubs up against the cage furnishings.
Reaction to cage door opening:
Sir Bootz lip licks then lowers his body and inches away.
Reaction to touch:
Sir Bootz leans forward to sniff the assessor’s hand, accepts petting and gives head butts. He approaches the front of the kennel with his tail lowered, nuzzles against the assessor’s hand and allows petting all over his body. His tail rises up every time the assessor pets him along his back, then drops it back down. He appreciates attention and purrs softly but still seems a little unsure of his surroundings.
