SINATRA – 15150
Safe - 12-10-2017 Brooklyn Rescue: Feline Rescue of SI Please honor your pledges: http://felinerescueofstatenisland.org/donation/
*** SAFE 12/10/17 *** SINATRA is between 4 and 7 years old and lived with adults, children and other cats. He is tolerant of children but not interested in playing with them. He got along with his cat housemates. Being plucked from a family and dumped in a shelter has made SINATRA a little fearful. A new loving home with a new purrson will put that to rights!
Brooklyn Center

I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 01-Dec-2017, with the surrender reason stated as not a fit – too many animals already.

Potential challenges comments:: Sinatra has displayed fearful behavior during their stay in the care center and has displayed distance-increasing behavior with extended handling. Fear aggression can occur when a cat perceives a threat and may escalate if they cannot escape. A fearful cat will feel more relaxed when given options, so provide him/her with the chance to move closer, investigate, or interact with you. Be sure to offer incentive such as treats or play time whenever the cat makes a small positive step. Please speak to an adoption counselor for additional information on methods to desensitize your cat to their fear stimulus.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Experience
Behavior Asilomar: TM – Treatable-Manageable
RECOMMENDATIONS:: None
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Sinatra tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. Sinatra may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
