A1124362 Silky – Silky is at-risk with an adult only determination. He displays fearful behavior and attempts to hide upon approach, keeping a low body posture. He feint sleeps when spoken to and shifts away when hand is extended toward him. Although he allows gentle petting, but remains very tense and his ears tilt sideways.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Steady VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid, Independent KNOWN HISTORY: Silky was brought in with limited information on their behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 9/5/17- Observed Behavior – allows exam, ears back, nervous ENRICHMENT NOTES: 9/6/17 Dozing in litter box, woke when spoken to. Briefly looked up with dilated eyes, then looked away. Looked up again when door opened, tense posture. Tolerated pets, but put ears sideways, started lip licking. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Silky remains tense, crouched position at the back hiding in his cage cubby. Reaction when softly spoken to: Silky remains immobile in place with no interest. Reaction to cage door opening: Silky tightly curls up with tail close to the body, alert with eyes dilated, ears erect and forward. Reaction to touch: Silky accepts the touch, but follows the assessor’s hand, ears flat back and lip licks in place. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home who understands this cat may need time to warm up to his new home and family at his own pace.
