Hello, my name is Shore. My animal id is #10289. I am a desexed male brown tabby cat at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 12 years 1 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a aco impound on 20-Oct-2017.
Shore is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other cats.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 12-14 years Microchip noted on Intake? negative History : stray Subjective: BARH Observed Behavior – very sweet but tense and nervous. Easily handleable. Did well for all medical handling and procedures Evidence of Cruelty seen – no Evidence of Trauma seen – no Objective P = wnl R = eupneic BCS 7/9 EENT: Eyes clear with nuclear sclerosis ou, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: adult dentition with moderate dental disease and oligodontia, no oral lesions noted PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupneic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: MN MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, matted hair coat dorsally, overweight CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: Geriatric Nuclear sclerosis ou Dental disease Matted Overweight Plan: Continue to monitor while at BACC Shaved matts Prognosis: Good SURGERY: neutered
New URI noted on rounds History : stray intake 10/20-matted (shaved on intake) and geriatric Subjective: QAR. No c/v/d but is sneezing and congested. Objective EENT: serous nasal d/c, no ocular d/c H/L: Eupneic but congested Assessment: URI Geriatric Nuclear sclerosis ou Dental disease Matted-shaved on intake Overweight Plan: Continue to monitor while at BACC Move to iso Start doxycycline 10mg/kg PO SID x10d until 11/11 Recheck day 7, 10 Prognosis: Good

Behavior Condition: 2. Blue
KNOWN HISTORY:: Shore was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on their behavior history or tendencies in a home environment.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior – very sweet but tense and nervous. Easily handle able. Did well for all medical handling and procedures
Cage Condition:: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor:: Shore was lying down by the back, calm and relaxed.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Shore looks at the assessor with his ears slightly tilted to the side.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Shore becomes alert and tense.
Reaction to touch:: Shore sniffs the assessor’s hand, but shifts away and is hesitant of contact. He allows petting with a slow approach and is twitchy at first, but he slowly starts to warm up and will lift his rear and arch his shoulders up for petting. He begins to purr and drool after.
Reaction to being picked up:: Shore is a bit tense, but he remains calm when held.
