11/09/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Shiva was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Reaction to assessor: Shiva was lying down on her blanket with her body lowered then turns towards the assessor and slow blinks. Reaction when softly spoken to: Shiva looks around wary of her surroundings and doesn’t get up or come forward when coaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Shiva lies motionless. Reaction to touch: Shiva had wide eyes fixated on the assessor’s movements and leans away when attempting to touch. She hisses and raises her paw when the assessor extends his hand out and currently allows no handling. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Shiva is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
