S/O -QAR, unsocialized, hisses and regresses when approached -mm pk, sl tacky; CRT <2 sec; moderate tartar build up -no nasal discharge or sneezing -OU: open and clear, pupils dilated (likely behavioral) -eupnic, heart/lungs WNL -soft abdomen -clean coat A dental disease P okay to spay recommend dental cleaning after placement
Surgery Report: Feline Spay Was this cat in heat, pregnant or have a pyometra? in heat, mild hydrometra, cystic ovaries Ventral Midline Incision Ovaries Ligated with:autoligated Uterine Body Ligated with: one modified miller’s knot and once encircling ligation, 3-0 PDS Abdominal Closure:3-layer closure, 3-0 PDS, simple continuous Green Linear Tattoo Placed on Midline Surgeon:1382 Additional Comments: hypotension (MAP 60) was noted initially but responded to an IV fluid bolus and a decrease in isoflurane; recovery was smooth and uneventful
Pre Medication/Induction: Hydromorphone 2mg/mL injectable, 0.18mL IM, once Telazol 10mg/mL injectable, 0.08mL IM, once Onsior 20mg/mL injectable, 0.35mL, IM once Size 3.5 ET tube placed, maintained general anesthesia throughout procedure on variable Isoflurane and 1L/min O2. Used non-rebreathing system with 0.5L bag. 24g IVC placed in RFL cephalic vessel. IVF rate: 18mL/hr NSAID: Robenicoxib (Onsior) 20mg/mL injectable, 0.35mL, SQ, once, for post-operative pain relief. Given post operatively. Recovery Status: Uneventful Anesthetist/Surgical Monitor (P#’s): 0811/1461

KNOWN HISTORY:: Sherman was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior -tense, tries to flee
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 12/6/17 Resting in den, completely out of sight. Lifted head when spoken to, still facing away. No response when spoken to for a few minutes, then abruptly struck interior den wall and hissed, stared out of den holes with dilated eyes. Left alone for now. Sprayed thunderease. 12/7/17 In den, peeking through holes, eyes fully dilated. Started hissing and repeatedly striking interior wall when door opened. Deep growled when offered treats. Treats from yesterday still uneaten. Sprayed thunderease.

Reaction to assessor:: Sherman remains hiding in the cat den during the approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Sherman shows no interest.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Sherman becomes alert with eyes wide open, ears erect and forward.
Reaction to touch:: While attempting to touch, Sherman began to growl, hiss and strike at the assessor’s hand, avoiding contact.

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Sherman is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is stressed in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
