**SAFE 05/19/16***”ANOTHER APPEARANCE TONIGHT FOR SHELLY – THE PREGNANT SWEETIE WHO IS NOW EVEN MORE URGENT THAN EVER! SHELLY being very pregnant is now now eating as of her last medical and the shelter is saying she needs to leave ASAP if she is lucky enough to be rescued!!! She also has severe gingivitis in her mouth and needs that treated. BUT – BOUNCY BALL SIZED FETUSES” are alive and well inside of SHELLY, a frightened kitty who was taken to the ACC as a stray on May 12th. SHELLY through all of this has shown no signs of aggression and has allowed all handling. How long does it take “bouncy ball sized fetuses” to be smothered inside of their mama, when their mama is killed by lethal injection? It’s a horrible thought, and even more horrible is that someone at the ACC will be poised to actually time that mess, if they are of a mind to; the Animal CARE Centers of NYC are planning to kill this innocent cat right after noon, tomorrow. SHELLY deserves SO MUCH MORE than to be killed, along with her “bouncy ball sized fetuses,” tomorrow afternoon. Please work with a NEW HOPE RESCUE if YOU can foster/adopt Shelly, tonight!

05/16/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Shelly was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Reaction to assessor: Shelly keeps her body low and hides in back of her bedding. Reaction when softly spoken to: Shelly slow blinks and keeps her tail curled up along her body. Reaction to cage door opening: Shelly remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Shelly’s eyes widen and slowly shifts away from contact. When near she hisses and attempts to flee the kennel. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Shelly is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
